(RE)Understanding Prayer: A Fresh Approach to Conversation With God
By Kyle Lake

{Back in Business}

I really want to appologize for letting this blog go by the waste side. I believe God is allowing me to go through another transforming process like a few years ago. He needed to get my attention. A few of you know what these "seasons" are like for me. Keep me in prayer, that the glasses of fear, panic and anxiety will not find my eyes of life. If they do at times, that I can recognize that God is in control and that I will be able to fight to be in His presence.

What an awesome prayer I read today:

God, I hold fast to You right now for who You are,
knowing full well that at this very moment You are not
like me and I am not like You.  Right now, my thoughts
are not Your thoughts, my ways are not entirely Your
ways, my values are not entirely Your values. But, God,
I still cling to You, and approach my future amid this
inevitable conflict of interests between Your ways and
Your thoughts and my ways and my thoughts.  And
when Your ways and Your thoughts conflict with mine,
I will strive to be the one who changes.

{Just Because}

I just wanted to drop a line out there to keep in pace. Today I stayed home to watch Tyler. We kept him home another day due to an ear infection. He is doing great.

{Back Home & Tired}

We made it back in one piece from Detroit (or Steeler Nation). The black & gold with the terrible towels were out in full force. On the way down there was rain, after some hours in the NFL Experience, the HUGE snowflakes took over. The autograph seeking wasn't what I expected, the hand full there was, only came out every few hours. I expected some bigger names. Waiting in those long lines just wasn't worth the end result. There was a cool memorabilia show where I picked up Tyler (and myself) a few cool hopeful money makers in the future and a few keepsakes for us to hold on to. After leaving The Experience, we walked down the street to the RenCen and watched the ESPN set. After being in Detroit from 11:30 - 6:30, we had our fill. We had hoped to see stars and such walking around, we also know that they wouldn't be out until night time for the night life. All and all Christy and I had a good experience (something new) watching Detroit finally look and feel safe and exciting.

This was the entrance to the experience.

Right when you entered, Christy wanted to be a Lion!

The Holy Grail of pro football.

This was cool, Wilson was showing how they make the official football.

{How small we really are}

Last night I had the opportunity to take in the Chris Tomlin - Indescribable Tour at the Dow Event Center in Saginaw. He invited the most popular song writer out there, Matt Redman and the best pure and relevant communicator , Louie Giglio. Those of you who are familier with this trio of guys, know that they are linked directly to the Passion organization. Whenever you witness any of their events, you notice the time and dedication in all parts of the production revolve closely to the main theme of the night. Everything from lighting, audio/visual, music and lesson are woven together seamlessly. Until last night, I had looked at all the graphics they use ( CD/ DVD covers and posters) and thought  -"that's different, but cool!"  I never noticed that the backgrounds were actual satellite photos of space. See what I mean  /\ /\ /\

Louie used the vastness of the universe to drive home how ridiculously small a speck we are and how massive
our God is. He used some awesome pictures and statistics from both NASA and The Hubble Telescope Site to show galaxies and to relate the great distances up there. When I began to think and work in light years and millions of light years, I really noticed how big our God is. To think, he just spoke all that vastness into existence. Louie retrieved a lot of imagery to show the beauty and sometimes the humor of what God had created. Towards the end of Louie's message, He revealed this image to all of us. The image on the left is called the "Whirlpool Galaxy." This galaxy is roughly 130+ million light years away from us. (If the 130+ is off, who cares when you are talking millions of light years!) The whole theatre just gasped and awed at it's beauty and intricacy. Louie then made a statement that he came across an image that made him go "no way, that's incredible!" Scientists took the Hubble Telescope and focused on the "eye" of the Whirlpool Galaxy. Sitting in the center, millions of light years more away, was an image that you know God put there knowing someday man would be able to reach it at least visually. This next picture is what was found in the center. On the Hubble website the scientist label this as an "X". For those of us who faithfully believe in our creator know that this is a cross. As Louie put it when this image popped up on the screen, "God is everywhere!" Louie's message can be bought on DVD. I really recommend anyone to purchase this. The message is only about 35 minutes long.

I will be attending a few more concerts in the next couple of months. (Third Day w/ David Crowder Band, Casting Crowns, and even the NFL Experience at the Super Bowl in Detroit)Hopefully the other venues will allow cameras (unlike The Dow Event Center). I wanted to have live pics from last night, but the event center posted signs not to use any recordable device. Oh well! I was a good by, and left my camera in my jacket pocket.
